Yemen's Premier Language Institute Since 1975

Proudly celebrating 32 years of service to the Yemeni people

Founded by the United States Embassy in Sana’a, YALI now celebrates its 32nd anniversary as the largest and most respected English language institute in Yemen. Backed by the United States Government and the international non-profit organization, AMIDEAST, YALI is part of the mission to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa. As a testament to this end, over a hundred thousand students have studied at YALI and consider it their second home.

Mission

To provide public diplomacy by enhancing the English language proficiency of the Yemeni people and to further understanding of the United States, its people, and its culture.

Benefit

With a rich and effective curriculum using well-known textbooks, challenging study materials and rigorous tests it is no surprise that the YALI certificate is well regarded by businesses, government, and non-governmental organizations.

YALI students go on to study at universities abroad and lead successful careers. Among YALI’s graduates you will find embassy employees, government officials, business men and women, academics, journalists, translators, engineers, and doctors.

A graduate receives the certificate at YALI’s graduation ceremony from the US Embassy Assistant Public Affairs Officer Megan Goodfellow and YALI Director of Courses Greg Olson on January 31.

More than 2,850 students are now enrolled in YALI’s English language program. The program assists students in mastering English as a Foreign Language and prepares them to study at universities abroad or work at international companies. Hundreds of friends, family members and current students attend the graduation ceremony, which takes place at the end of every five-week term. At this ceremony, Megan Goodfellow (left) spoke highly of the 25 graduates and encouraged the currently enrolled students to complete the program.
